In an interview Monday on the ANC’s “Headstart,” Velasco said during the break that he would “evaluate some of the posts.”

He noted that there are publications that need a change “mainly because some of the publications require the trust and confidence of the Speaker.”

“I haven’t really eliminated many people. As I said, I have yet to evaluate the publication of each and every one of the members and their performance… I am definitely not attacking anyone, ”Velasco said.

Previously, 1-Pacman party list representative Michael Romero was elected vice president after being removed from office this month.

Those who are no longer adjunct speakers are the representative of the first district of the city of Davao, Paolo Duterte, and the representative of the second district of Camarines Sur, Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr.

Duterte was named chairman of the House Accounts Committee on Tuesday, replacing Cavite representative Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.

Velasco said Oriental Mindoro representative Doy Leachon assumed the position of vice president that Duterte resigned.

“I have nothing against Bambol Tolentino. But again… as I said, that position requires the full trust and confidence of the Speaker, ”he said.

Also last Tuesday, the representative of Ilocos Sur, Kristine Singson-Meehan, was elected vice president of the Accounts Committee.

Quezon representative, Angelina Tan, regained the chairmanship of the Health Committee.
Velasco said he will give Manila Rep. Welcome Abante Jr. to post.

Abante had resigned as the House minority leader.

He was replaced by the representative of the Abang Lingkod Party list, Joseph Stephen Paduano.

In the midst of events in the House of Representatives, Congresswoman Camille Villar promised the support of the Nationalist Party for the President’s legislative agenda.

“With strong leadership backed by a proactive cabinet, we believe the country is in a better position to overcome the challenges of this pandemic and ultimately facilitate the cure against Covid-19,” said Villar.

“We join President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his relentless campaign to eradicate corruption in government, which is stealing precious resources that should have gone directly to the people,” he added.

Villar said his party supports early passage of the budget bill “which would truly reflect the needs of the people and not simply be based on the requirements of the districts.”

“The party extends its helping hand to the new leaders of the House and promises to work closely with their team to ensure the success of the president’s legislative and economic agenda,” added the legislator.
