MANILA, Philippines – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lord Allan Velasco, said Tuesday that he was “ostracized” during the term of former President Alan Peter Cayetano.
According to him, they only “kept him in a corner” and he was not invited to the meetings.
“Actually, to talagang in-ostracize ako. I’m sorry to say that, ”Velasco said during the Daily Tribune’s FB Live interview.
“They kept me in a lang talaga corner to be honest,” he added.
He cited a case in which Cayetano supposedly called a meeting with members of the Chamber and was the only one who was not invited.
Velasco said he would not do the same with his predecessor.
“I’m really not that kind of person. Forgive naman po tayo, ”he said.
The House leader said previously that he and Cayetano have already made peace after their heated battle of speakers.
Last week, 186 lawmakers voted to elect Velasco as the new speaker of the House of Representatives, effectively ousting Cayetano.
Most of the legislators in the lower legislative body eventually ratified their election of Velasco, and Cayetano subsequently resigned from office.
