Santo Tomas University officially accepted the resignation of men’s basketball coach Aldin Ayo following controversy over Sorsogon’s training bubble that has put the school in the spotlight.

The university, through the Office of the Secretary General, announced this in a statement on its social media accounts on Saturday morning, a few days after Ayo reportedly submitted her resignation.

The university also accepted the resignation of Ayo’s coaching staff at Mcjour Luib and Jinino Manansala.

“The Thomasian community conveys its gratitude for your service to the University,” the statement read.

“Rest assured that the University will remain committed to the well-being of student athletes and will begin the process of rebuilding athletic programs, particularly the men’s basketball team, through compassion and competition.”

UST has been at the center of controversy in recent weeks after allegedly violating government health protocols when its men’s basketball team held a training camp in Sorsogon.
