The administration of US President Joe Biden on Saturday prevented a Baltimore manufacturing plant that ruined 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine from making another vaccine developed by AstraZeneca, the New York Times reported Saturday.
Management has put Johnson & Johnson in charge of the troubled manufacturing plant, according to the report.
The extraordinary step by U.S. Health and Human Services will have the Emergent BioSolutions facility dedicated exclusively to manufacturing Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine, and is intended to prevent future confusion, according to the report, which cites two top federal health officials.
Johnson & Johnson said it was “assuming full responsibility,” confirming the changes, the report added.
