MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines (UP) maintained its place as part of the Top 100 Schools in Asia, based on the 2021 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia Ranking.
The list, released Wednesday, showed the nation’s top state university climbing three spots and now ranking 69th out of its 72nd rankings in 2020.
UP is the only school in the Philippines to be included in the top 100 of the QS Asia rankings.
Meanwhile, 13 other Philippine universities make it to the list of the 650 best universities in Asia.
The Ateneo de Manila University, which ranked 124th in 2020, dropped to 11 places to 135th this year. Likewise, De La Salle University fell to 166th place, down from 156th last year.
The University of Santo Tomás was also included on the list, ranking 186, down from 179 in 2020.

Singapore’s National University of Singapore was hailed as the best university in Asia, according to the QS ranking.
The QS Asia University Rankings, published annually since 2009, highlights the best universities in Asia, according to its official website.
The QS Asia Rankings evaluated universities using 11 indicators, namely academic reputation (30 percent), employer reputation (20 percent), teacher / student ratio (10 percent), international research network (10 percent) ), citations by article (10 percent) and articles by faculty (5 percent), staff with a doctorate. (5 percent), the proportion of international professors (2.5 percent) and the proportion of international students (2.5 percent), the proportion of incoming exchange students (2.5 percent), and the proportion of outgoing exchange students ( 2.5 percent).
