The Philippine College Athletic Association found a new television partner after the league announced Wednesday that it signed a long-term broadcasting agreement with Cignal TV.
“The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) is proud to announce its broadcasting partnership with CIGNAL TV and SMART for the next five and a half years, beginning with UAAP season 83 (2020-2021),” the statement read .
“As part of this collaboration, select UAAP events will be broadcast live on One Sports channel and CIGNAL TV and other SMART digital assets, ensuring broad and engaging coverage on different multimedia platforms.
“With its affiliate network, TV5, and combined experience in sports production, the association provides UAAP with a solid foundation in its efforts to promote university sports in the country.”
The Covid pandemic has kickstarted plans for the league’s 83rd season, with no set date yet. Also, the varsity teams have yet to resume practice. But UAAP expressed optimism that the new agreement would be the first step in laying the groundwork for next season.
“Despite current challenges, the league looks forward to the partnership as a new chapter that can take the UAAP to even greater heights.”
