WASHINGTON, United States – On Wednesday, May 13, United States President Donald Trump deepened his disagreement with chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci about loosening the coronavirus restrictions, saying they are “totally” disagreeing over whether keep schools closed.

The question of whether students should return to schools and universities in September is emerging as a tipping point in the confrontation between the White House and medical experts over how quickly the country will reopen. (READ: Trump’s ‘delusional’ blockade exit plan says opponents)

Trump, speaking to journalists at the White House, said he found that Fauci’s latest call for a very cautious reopening “is not acceptable.”

“We are opening our country, people want it to be open, schools will be open,” Trump said.

Fauci, an internationally respected infectious disease expert and key adviser to Trump during the pandemic, testified in Congress Tuesday that ending the blockade too quickly could have “really serious” consequences.

“There is a real risk that you will trigger an outbreak that you may not be able to control,” he said.

This was totally at odds with Trump’s push to leave the health emergency behind and focus on reopening the US economy. USA That vision is gaining momentum as companies struggle to stay solvent and millions of Americans sign up for unemployment aid.

Fauci warned that opening too early could allow the highly contagious and deadly virus to resume its spread and this “could even slow you down the road to try to regain the economy.”

The November elections add to the high stakes, in which Trump argues he will lead the country to healthy economic times, while his Democratic opponent Joe Biden accuses the Republican of mishandling the pandemic and worsening the consequences.

So far, Trump has stayed with Fauci, but the doctor is increasingly in the background as the president pushes his reopening message.

“Anthony is a good person, a very good person. I disagree with him,” Trump said in a segment of an interview on Fox Business Network that will air Thursday morning.

“I think we have to open our schools,” Trump said in the interview.

“We have to open our country. Now, we want to do it safely, but we also want to do it as quickly as possible. We cannot continue like this. You are already having problems on the streets.” he said.
