Tropical depression will enter PAR on Thursday and will be called ‘Rolly’ – Pagasa – The Manila Times

Maintaining its strength as it slowly moves west-northwest, the tropical cyclone will be named “Rolly,” the state weather agency said.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Pagasa said it was estimated at 1,960 kilometers east of Central Luzon.

With maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 70 kph, it is moving slowly to the west-northwest, Pagasa said.

“It is expected to intensify in [a] tropical storm within 24 hours. It will continue to grow stronger as it moves over the Philippine Sea and can reach typhoon status before making landfall, ”said Pagasa.

He said the tropical depression will generally move west or west-northwest toward the eastern boundary of PAR and then southwest tomorrow. [Thursday] in the afternoon until Saturday morning.

On the forecast track, the storm will begin moving generally west on Saturday afternoon as it heads toward the Bicol region.

At the moment, Pagasa said that the tropical depression is not affecting any part of the country.

However, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will be experienced in Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Western Visayas due to the trough of Typhoon “Molave” (“Quinta” within PAR), while cloudy skies with moderate rainfall and isolated storms will affect Batanes and Cagayan caused by the tail of a frontal system.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated showers due to localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
