Total PH COVID-19 Cases Slowly Approaching 400,000

MANILA, Philippines – The country’s total COVID-19 infection count approached 400,000 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,347 new cases Tuesday.

The DOH case bulletin showed that of the 399,749 confirmed patients, 30,169 of these are still considered active cases. With 187 recoveries on Tuesday, the total number of recovered patients is now 361,919.

Of the active cases, 83 percent experience mild symptoms, 9.4 percent are asymptomatic, while 4.8 percent are in critical condition and 2.7 percent have severe symptoms.

However, 14 new recorded deaths brought the death toll to 7,661.

DOH said most of the new cases came from Cavite (92), Manila City (77), Quezon City (58), Baguio City (55) and Laguna (52).

The Philippines’ positivity remains around the 5.8 percent range after 1,247 of the 21,841 tests performed were positive. DOH also noted that 47 duplicate entries were removed from the total count, of which 43 are recoveries.[ac]
