Total number of PH COVID-19 cases now stands at 228,403 with 1,987 new infections

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) recorded an additional 1,987 COVID-19 infections, bringing the total count for the Philippines to 228,403 as of September 3.

DOH also recorded 880 new recoveries and 65 more deaths, bringing the country’s recovery count to 159,475 and the death toll to 3,688.

According to the DOH, 65,240 of the total cases nationwide are considered “active” as of Thursday. He also said that of the 1,987 new infections, 818 were documented in Metro Manila, 153 in Cavite, 125 in Laguna, 122 in Negros Occidental and 78 in Rizal.

The DOH said it again discovered and removed 24 duplicates of the total cases, including 12 patients previously reported as recoveries. Additionally, the DOH said that three cases that were reported as recoveries were later found to be fatalities.
