MANILA, Philippines – The Tonyo Tropical Depression has accelerated slightly and is now over the coastal waters of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro, as a new low pressure (LPA) was detected east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur that could become a tropical depression in the coming years. 48 hours.
According to the severe weather bulletin issued by Pagasa at 2 pm Sunday, the center of the Tonyo tropical depression was last discovered 105 kilometers west of the city of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. It is moving west at 30 kilometers per hour and has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 60 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, the LPA 920 km east of Hinatuan will be called “Ulysses” once it becomes a tropical depression.
On the forecast track, Pagasa said Tonyo will move west toward the western boundary of the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR). You can leave the PAR on Monday morning.
The weather disruption is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm within the next 24 hours.
According to Pagasa, Tonyo will bring light to moderate rains with heavy rains at times over the Ilocos region, the Cordillera administrative region, the Cagayan valley, the Aurora, Mindoro and Palawan provinces, including the Calamian and Kalayaan islands.
The tropical cyclone No. 1 wind signal has already risen in most areas except in the northwestern part of Occidental Mindoro (Abra de Ilog, Paluan, Mamburao, Santa Cruz), including Lubang Island.
Pagasa warned that such areas may experience strong breezes to conditions close to gales with occasional gusts. The northeast monsoon will also bring a strong breeze to near gale conditions over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Apayao and the northern part of mainland Cagayan.
