PBA: TNT KaTropa Says Kelly Williams Retirement Left Training Bubble Without Warning
TNT KaTropa doesn’t know why Kelly Williams decided to leave the training bubble and finally announce her retirement without informing the team.
Team manager Gabby Cui said Williams has not reached out to TNT management since leaving the training bubble at Laguna last week.
He added that KaTropa only learned of Williams’ retirement when the 13-year veteran announced his decision through his social media accounts.
“Kelly Williams left our training camp on September 2 without any warning or explanation until now,” Cui said. “She hasn’t approached us since. We learned of your decision to withdraw only through social media.
“He is AWOL (AWOL),” added Cui, whose team had recently completed a two-week training bubble at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba.
TNT was the only team to maintain a bubble since PBA teams were allowed to resume training under strict health protocols.
Williams, 38, retired after stints with St. Lucia and TNT resulted in six championships, two Returning Player of the Year honors and an Most Valuable Player award in 2008.
