BARANGAY Geneva coach Tim Cone said he received comments from Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra about playing inside a bubble that the PBA was able to organize for more than two months.

Cone said he was able to speak to Spoelstra about his coaching experiences within the NBA bubble, which became the PBA’s formula when he kept his own setup to play the 2020 season.

“I had the opportunity to communicate with coach Erik Spoelstra before they reached the final,” Cone said of Spoelstra, with whom he has built a friendship over the years. But of course I was following the Miami Heat very closely and what they were doing. It gave us a bit of a feeling to follow them so closely, ”Cone said.

“I’ve never gotten into a bubble and I was talking to a friend of Erik Spoelstra and I was saying, I hope I can at least match what Erik Spoelstra did in terms of going all the way, but I was joking about it because I didn’t think I would. we would never and then we did. But again, the NBA experience was one thing. The PBA experience was something totally different. ”

Cone said he hopes to speak to Spoelstra one more time to share his own experience of the bubble on the Philippine stage.

“Now it will be fun to sit down and compare notes and talk about things that happened there and what happened here. I haven’t had that opportunity yet. I’d like to think that this will be in the future. If it ever happens, I’ll let you know what was said. “

Rather than winning the championship, Cone is grateful that the entire PBA family was able to play the game again amid the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the entire world.

“This was a unique experience. I can’t thank the PBA enough for allowing us to play the game we love in a safe and competitive way. The work, all the logistics of doing this not only for the PBA but for the Press Corps, the referees. Quest Hotel, it was so nice to be around. The manager and general manager were very nice to us, ”Cone said.
