The Golden State Warriors were excited to be back in contention in the Western Conference next season with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson recovered. Unfortunately, they saw Thompson fall during the season due to a torn Achilles tendon. They’ve already traded for Kelly Oubre, but could they look to acquire DeMar DeRozan from the San Antonio Spurs as well?
DeRozan has been mentioned in a ton of trade rumors this offseason. From the Los Angeles Lakers to the Atlanta Hawks, many teams have been named as potential landing spots for the veteran shooting guard.
Bringing in DeRozan would be a very good move for the Warriors and would help them replace Thompson’s lost production. Of course, he’s not a good shooter from the 3-point line, but he would bring the ability to create your own shot. He would fit in nicely alongside Curry at the back of the court with Oubre playing forward.
Last season with the Spurs, DeRozan finished averaging 22.1 points per game to go along with 5.6 assists and 5.5 rebounds. He shot 53.1 percent from the ground and 25.7 percent from 3-point range.
All that said, let’s take a look at an intriguing trade that would send DeMar DeRozan to the Warriors to help them replace Thompson.
