MANILA – The Zamboanga brothers from the Philippines scored huge victories over their Thai opponents in One: A New Breed at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on Friday night.
Drex Zamboanga featured Detchadin Sornsirisuphathin to seal a successful debut in One, while his younger sister Denice did quick work with Watsyapinya Kaewkhong to stay undefeated in her career.
Drex just beat the Round 2 bell with a bare butt choke that sent Sornsirisuphathin to sleep.
Drex Zamboanga rose to 9-5 overall, scoring his second straight win.
On the other hand, Denice needed only 89 seconds to dominate Kaewkhong, sealing him with an American submission.
Denice Zamboanga, the number one atomweight fighter in category One, is now 8-0.
However, the same cannot be said for the other Filipino fighter on the card, KC Carlos.
Carlos fell to Wondergirl Fairtex of Thailand in a battle that pitted the rookies from One Championship.
Wondergirl was too much for Carlos, and it was evident midway through the second round when the first broke the second’s nose, forcing the ring doctor to stop the contest. (PNA)
