MANILA, Philippines – A family suffered a tragedy in Taguig on Christmas Day (December 25) after a man killed their two children.

The suspect, identified as Aiko Siancunco, turned himself in to authorities after taking the lives of his 1 and 3-year-old children, a police report from the Southern Police District said on Friday.

The suspect said he also attempted suicide by drinking bleach detergent, but was unsuccessful.

A report from radio station dzRH said that Siancunco hanged his children after his wife allegedly committed suicide.

But the sister of the suspect interviewed by dzRH, who declined to be named, said she does not believe Siancuco’s wife took her own life.

“He texted me asking me to take care of the children, I surrender,” the sister said, recalling her last communication with the suspect before seeing the lifeless children.

He said he was unaware of the couple’s problems, but knew that his brother was short-tempered.

“I think it’s normal for the couple to fight, but I don’t know how often they fought,” said the sister. “We have no idea because they were alone in the house,” he said.

The suspect’s sister promised to fight for justice. “We will seek justice because it included children. Children are innocent, ”he said.
