Following the devastating news about Klay Thompson, the Splash Bro era is officially in peril for the Golden State Warriors.
Man, it’s hard to express how discouraging it is to hear that just a month before making his long-awaited return to the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson suffered a significant lower leg injury that will undoubtedly alter the trajectory of his career.
Chris haynes reported that the fear is that Thompson has injured his Achilles tendon. This follows a devastating anterior cruciate ligament tear in the other leg. For a 30-year-old guard, this is incredibly bad news.
Thompson, a five-time All-Star and a borderline superstar, has been one of the driving forces behind an all-time great dynasty in the NBA. Without a doubt, he is the best 3 and D player to ever play and the perfect companion to race alongside Stephen Curry.
Together, Thompson and Curry stand as the greatest shooting duo in NBA history. The thrill of seeing these two clash and clash continuously throughout the decade will never be matched.
But the Warriors have to face a harsh reality now. This may be the case for Thompson as we know it. Damage from multiple injuries to the lower legs will have a lasting impact on the aging of the guard. While your 3-point shots will keep you accountable, how much of an impact will this have on your athleticism?
It’s hard to see Thompson returning to an All-Star level after this hit. In reality, it is difficult to see if it will still be valuable in a few years. We just don’t know how quickly these injuries will decrease.
I think I speak on behalf of NBA fans everywhere when I say that I hope we can see the Splash Brothers fight together at a high level once more before all is said and done.
