MANILA, Philippines – The Senate has set a hearing for the renewal of the license of the Philippines’ third largest telecommunications company, Dito, according to Senator Grace Poe on Wednesday (December 2).

The Dec. 7 hearing, Poe said, would be for Dito’s franchise renewal, but would also give NTC an opportunity to “show the public how it has been doing its job during the ongoing pandemic.”

Poe said he agrees with the call for better telecommunications services and supports President Rodrigo Duterte’s request for a progress report from telecom giants Globe and Smart on the improvements required of them and also an assessment by the NTC. .
Poe added that the Senate public services committee “will continue to exercise its oversight power” and will require a copy of the progress report from the telcos, but also a plan to improve services with a clear timeline from the NTC and the companies. telecommunications.
“This pandemic has shown us unprecedented demand. Better services must be provided in the shortest time possible, ”he said. Zac Sarao, intern
