MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine women’s soccer team reached its highest ranking in the latest edition of the FIFA World Ranking on Friday.

Moving up two places from their place in the rankings last year, the Philippine Booties now rank 65th in the world with 1,369 points.

This despite the limited international soccer action due to the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

In Asia, the Damned also improved their rankings by two places to rank 11th in the region while maintaining their fifth place in Southeast Asia.

Last year, the Filipino boots made their first semi-final appearance at the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

They also had an impressive performance in the Olympic qualifiers that propelled them to World No. 67.

The Philippines was supposed to host the 2020 AFF Women’s Championship, but was hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
