PHOENIX captain and top gunner, Matthew Wright, showed good chemistry last night with Calvin Abueva, who finally dressed for the team after a 16-month ban.

The Fuel Masters escaped NLEX, 114-110, in a showdown Monday night at the University of Angeles Foundation gym.

In announcing his return, Abueva scored the team with a double-double of 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Wright, meanwhile, contributed 28 points.

The team captain is beyond proud and happy about the sequence of events that led to Calvin’s comeback game.

“I have been very adamant about reinstating him for a long time. As a teammate and friend, I am happy to have him back. [on the court],” he said SPIN Life Tuesday morning

The Fil-Am forward also noticed how the whole league looked even more animated with the brave Abueva. Last night’s game posted record numbers on social media when viewers tuned in to watch.

From the beginning, Wright has been very vocal on Twitter with the hashtag #LetCalvinPlay.

And now when that battle cry is officially dropped, he’ll be there to back his much-missed teammate.
