The Lakay team recently provided assistance through a Rice Donation for People with Disabilities (PWD) project in Balacbac, Baguio City.
Wearing protective gear, the Igorot warriors assisted in labor and personally delivered bags of rice to the disabled people.
Donations came from Rotary International District 3730 in Korea, in association with the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital (RI 3790), as shown in their vlog posted Thursday.
Present at the event were Lakay team coach and president Mark Sangiao, ONE Championship strawweight king Joshua Pacio, two-time lightweight champion Eduard Folayang, former bantamweight champion Kevin Belingon, former champion Honorio Banario, strawweight contender Lito Adiwang and Brave CF’s Jeremy Pacatiw.
They also played the “gangsa,” the Cordillera musical instrument, in unison to entertain the Barangay Sto crowd. Tomas.
Sangiao, in a short speech, highlighted the importance of unity in these difficult times.
“Even in this pandemic, there are still people who are willing to help and we are very happy to be a part of this program,” said Sangiao, 41, in a mix of English and local dialect.
“We can see that we are still happy despite the situation we are in now. We still help each other. We are very proud, with this pandemic you are extending your help – to help our brothers [and sisters]. On behalf of the team, thank you very much.
Rotary President Joey Ahn, a Korean who has lived in Baguio City for 13 years, said that various Rotary and volunteer clubs in Korea are willing to help people and places through their health-related projects. , hunger and literacy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Josephine Balusdan, president of the barangay, for her part, appreciated the efforts of the Rotary club and the Lakay team.
