MANILA, Philippines – Women’s basketball has made waves, jumps, and leaps in recent years. Many parties have gone to great lengths to continue the progress of women’s basketball, especially in the Philippines.

Many coaches from across the region attended the series of webinars that were held on the weekends for consecutive weeks.
Another step in the right direction for women’s basketball in the Philippines is the establishment of the WNBL as the first professional women’s basketball league in the country.
“It is a positive development. This will boost the popularity of women’s basketball in our country, ”said Patrick Aquino, head coach and director of programs for the women’s national team, according to The Philippine Star.
“Hopefully more fans and sponsors will take notice,” he added.
One player city fans should be eager to see is Jack Animam, who has starred in the painting of the national team in recent competitions. They may have to wait a bit as he will surely be playing overseas for Shih Hsin University before returning for the WNBL.

The program has come a long way since jumping to Division A at the Women’s Asian Cup in 2015.
“We have arrived,” declared Philippines coach Patrick Aquino in 2015 after the achievement.

Their efforts to keep improving have resulted in their being able to maintain their Division A status during the last two Women’s Asian Cups.
