AKLAN, Philippines – Police arrested on Tuesday May 12, a 40-year-old man habal-habal (rental motorcycle) on Boracay Island after posting on his social media account that he will award a P100 million reward to anyone who kills President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Ronald Quiboyen was reacting to the controversial arrest of a 25-year-old public school teacher in Pangasinan who offered a $ 50 million reward for killing the President.
“‘Yong 50milyon nyo doblihin ko gawin kung 100milyon kung sino makapatay kay duterte andito ako ngayon sa Boracay, ”said Quiboyen in his viral publication on social networks.
(I will double the P50 million. I will offer a reward of P100 million to anyone who kills Duterte. I am here in Boracay).
The Pangasinan public school teacher, who faced charges of violating the code of conduct for public officials, apologized for his position.
Quiboyen did not resist the arrest when police from the Malay city found him in Barangay Yapak and arrested him on Tuesday night.
He was detained by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Aklan) and the Regional Unit against Cybercrime 6.
He was expected to undergo an investigative procedure before the Aklan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Kalibo City to face charges of incitement to sedition related to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Quiboyen is a native of Zamboanga Sibugay in Mindanao. He worked as a construction worker in Boracay before the coronavirus blockade. – Rappler.com
