The CPP claims that Duterte will become ‘pariah’ with the vote of the EU parliament

CITY OF CAGAYAN DE ORO ——- The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), which has called for the removal of President Rodrigo Duterte, has claimed that the aging leader is becoming “an international pariah” due to the recent Union resolution European Union (EU) that threatens to revoke the country’s trade privileges with the block of 27 states.

In a statement Saturday, CPP chief information officer Marco Valbuena compared Duterte to the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos and other former dictators who fell out of favor because of his government’s vile record of respecting human rights.

“Like Marcos before his overthrow, Duterte has now become an international pariah,” Valbuena said.

“The vote of the EU parliament confirms how isolated the Duterte regime is, not only from the Filipino people but also from the international community,” Valbuena added.

“He is now among the ranks of (Adolf from Germany) Hitler, (Benito from Italy) Mussolini, Marcos, Suharto (from Indonesia), Idi Amin (from Uganda), Alexander from Belarus) Lukashenko, Park Chung Hee (from South Korea) ) and other hated dictators who massacred his people and looted his nation, ”Valbuena said.

Human rights defenders are criticizing Duterte for the thousands of deaths generated by his administration’s so-called war on drugs and the killings of activists.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has said that the vote in the EU parliament was sparked by “a classic case of disinformation” led by the founding president of the CPP, José María Sison, who has been self-exiled in the Netherlands since 1987.

But Valbuena said Roque is “obsessed with red labels.”
