Subaru hosted the SubieFest over the weekend and attendees got a glimpse of the new generation of BRZ.

The sports car, which will once again be a twin of the Toyota 86, will be officially released this fall and will be marketed as a 2022 model year, which means it should begin reaching dealerships across the United States in the second half of the year. 2021.

The sneak peek isn’t all that revealing, partially showing the 10-spoke front left wheel from a camouflaged prototype and an air vent on the fender. Nonetheless, we have a pretty good picture of what we should expect from previous spy photos, namely a cleaner design, with a large front grille and new lighting units at both ends.

It looks like the new sports car will use an updated version of the current platform for the new 86 / BRZ twins, which appears to keep the same rear suspension, albeit probably with a few tweaks intended to make them even more responsive.

Power could come from Subaru’s 2.4-liter turbocharged four found in the Ascent and Legacy. This engine uses a top-mount intercooler and produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet (376 Nm) of torque, and can be connected to a standard manual transmission or an optional automatic transmission. The rumored STi variants could come in with up to 300 HP.

However, there is always the possibility that Japanese companies will continue to offer the duo with a naturally aspirated unit, like the current generation, although they would have to modify it or else it would keep them away from markets like Europe. as they would not meet the strictest emissions regulations.
