In a press release, Audi Philippines has just announced that the RS Q8 has arrived in its showrooms. It is the latest addition to the company’s high-performance Audi Sport model range, alongside the new RS 3 Sedan 4-door and the RS 6 Avant wagon.
The RS Q8 is based on the Q8, one of Audi’s largest SUVs alongside the Q7. Audi Sport upgraded the vehicle with a different look with the grille, side air intakes and other RS-specific single chassis trim. There are wide quattro blisters in the wheel arches for the widest track of the RS Q8’s 23-inch sports alloy wheels. An RS spoiler, rear apron and diffuser clip enhance the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
The main improvements in the RS Q8 over the standard Q8 is the 4.0-liter TFSI V8 biturbo engine. It produces 600 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. An 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission sends four-wheel drive through an Audi Sport-enhanced quattro intelligent all-wheel drive system.
Audi Sport also made many improvements to the suspension, such as an RS adaptive air suspension system that allows for a wider variety of settings and modes based on driver preferences. The RS Q8 also comes with an all-wheel steering system and RS ceramic brakes to match the performance of the TFSI engine. Finally, an RS sports exhaust system gives this high-performance version of the Q8 a matching exhaust note.
The Audi Sport updates that make up the RS Q8 allowed it to attack the Nurburgring in Germany and achieve a lap time of 7 minutes and 42 seconds; the fastest for any production SUV at the time.
Audi generally does not disclose prices for these top-tier models for a variety of reasons, chief of which is sensitivity to exchange rates at the time of ordering. Interested customers can visit Audi showrooms in the Philippines to inquire about the pricing of the new high-performance luxury SUV from Audi Sport.
