MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression Vicky is now moving west-northwest toward north-central Palawan, the state meteorological office said Saturday.

In its 5 am weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Vicky was last seen 135 kilometers east southeast of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Vicky also racked up maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

The tropical depression was also observed to move west-northwest at 15 km / h.

The tropical cyclone wind signal n. 1 towers over:

State forecasters said Vicky is expected to make landfall in the vicinity of northern or central Palawan on Saturday night.

Moderate to heavy rains, sometimes intense, are expected over the Bicol, Isabela, Aurora, Laguna, Rizal, Quezón, Marinduque and Palawan regions, including the Calamian, Cuyo and Cagayancillo islands due to Vicky, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains, sometimes heavy, are expected in Visayas, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Metro Manila and the rest of the mainland Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and the Administrative Region from Cordillera, Pagasa added.

Vicky is expected to leave the Philippines Area of ​​Responsibility on Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening, Pagasa said.
