ANTHONY and David Semerad were close to Sudan Daniel from his time at St. Bede.
Their bond lasted to the end.
The Fil-Aussie twins were among the last people who were with Daniel as they celebrated Christmas together at David’s farm in Calatagan, Batangas.
And one can only imagine how difficult it was for the Semerads to deal with the untimely demise of the gentle giant on Saturday.
“Sudan was a wonderful brother, father, son and friend who touched the lives of those around him,” wrote the Semerads on their respective Instagram pages.
“Sudan dedicated his life to basketball, to help people become the best version of themselves and reach their full potential on and off the court. We are all devastated by the loss of Sudan. However, please continue to pray for him. and his family”.

It was the Semerads who took Daniel to Calatagan Medicare Hospital after he suffered an asthma attack on Saturday morning.
The former NCAA Most Valuable Player was pronounced dead upon arrival. He was 33 years old.
Forced by the surprising turn of events, the Semerads still took the lead in caring for their brother from another mother in his final hours.
David is leading the fundraiser to pay for Daniel’s funeral services, as his ashes will likely be transported to the United States at the request of Sudan’s mother.
The brotherhood between the three stood the test of time since their days at Mendiola when Daniel led the Frankie Lim-trained Red Lions to the NCAA season 86 crown in 2010.
That lasted even as Daniel limited himself to one curious observer, healing from an ACL injury when he became one of San Beda’s main boosters a season later. There, the Semerads took on bigger roles for the Red Lions, as they captured three more titles in four years, including the 2014 championship when Anthony was named Finals MVP.
Even when the Semerads came to the PBA, their bond never waned as Daniel was kept busy training, working on Titan, or master of ceremonies for Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3.
Brothers to the end.
