Sthefanie Ventura impresses at WNBL Draft Combine

Sthefanie Ventura topped the list of the best in the WNBL Draft Combine from December 12-13 at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.

Ventura, who played college ball with Universidad Centro Escolar, led two categories in the 3/4 court sprint with a time of 3.18 seconds and lane agility with a timing of 12.66 seconds.

Ventura actually finished tied for the fastest time in lane agility with Noella Joy Cruz on the combine, where the hopefuls underwent various tests to better evaluate them for the next draft in the first professional women’s basketball league in the country.

Meanwhile, Eliezza Dianne Ventura excelled in the maximum vertical jump with a 27-inch jump while Syl Kristine Alcantara took first place in the 300-yard shuttle race with a time of one minute and one second.

Kathleen Araja and Mary Rose Labrador also made a good impression on the combined draft by ruling the shooting exercise with an average of 83 percent.

WNBL Ambassador Kiefer Ravena was on hand to personally see the 115 applicants who attended.

The performance tests were conducted during the combine supervised by the Board of Games and Amusement and were carried out with strict health and safety protocols that included antigen tests before entering the place of the combine with the support of Victoria Sports, Chris Sports , Phenom, Tanita, Chooks-to-Go, Uling Roasters and GIG Sportswear.

No practice games were held as part of the protocols, but a video of the combine will be provided to the teams. coaches Karlo Santos, Mark Caron, Aldo Panlilio, and Justin Aquino supervised the agility tests, and two Tamita coaches administered the body composition tests.
