Star Trek Online players have gathered in-game to pay tribute to Christopher Plummer, the legendary Canadian actor who died at the age of 91 this week.
The Oscar winner was perhaps best known for playing Captain Von Trapp on The Sound of Music, but he played the Klingon General Chang in the 1991 film Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country.
Plummer reprized the role of Chang for the 2000 video game Star Trek: Klingon Academy, which explains how his character lost an eye. The following video shows the introduction to the game:
Players are currently gathering at the various monuments located within Star Trek Online (the game’s commemorative plaques honor the cast and crew of the Star Trek series and films). Redditor Lars2510 took to the submarine from Star Trek Online to post a screenshot of a meeting in the Klingon homeworld Qo’noS:
We are in Qo’nos, instance n. 23, remembering Christopher Plummer / General Chang. Feel free to join us from r / sto
Here’s a screenshot by redditor ReeseKaine, posted on Imgur, from another meeting on Qo’noS:
Twitter user Grumpy Old Nord posted screenshots of a meeting at the monument in Deep Space Nine:

The official Star Trek Online Twitter page also paid tribute to the late Plummer:
In the hands of a minor actor, General Chang could have been a stereotype, a character on a note. But Christopher Plummer brought a seriousness and respect to the man who defined the Klingons for centuries. Rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/AwCr7ESy1a

The tributes arrived from the world of Star Trek after the death of Plummer. George Takei, who played Hikaru Sulu in the original series and films, called the actor a “giant of the stage and screen.”
The sound of music is sad today as Christopher Plummer has left us. He was a giant of the stage and screen, winner of an Oscar for? Beginners? He died at the age of 91 with his wife of 53 years, Elaine Taylor, by his side. Rest in timeless music, Captain Von Trapp.

And William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the original series, said “I’m so sad to lose him.”
A gentleman whose name is Christopher Plummer died today. He was what I call a friend. What is the definition of friend? Someone you know intimately whose breath and every thought are very similar to yours or a friend may be someone whose life is … pic.twitter.com/VodBKXm5Uz
