SMC implements 100 RFID installation sites

San Miguel Corp. said on Friday that it is installing 100 additional RFID installation sites to serve drivers in the southern and northern parts of Metro Manila and the provinces. SMC President and COO Ramon Ang said the company saw a larger than expected increase in applications, especially from non-regular users hoping to exceed the deadline. Ang said that while motorists could still get RFID stickers even after the government’s mandate for cashless transactions was implemented, SMC was introducing measures to accommodate the sheer volume of applications. These include further increasing manpower and equipment to speed up the pre-registration and pre-activation of the new Autosweep kits; extend on-road installation hours to 24 hours, seven days a week at Skyway Runway Plaza, Old NAIAX toll, C5 toll, and Nichols and Calamba; and activation of 100 new installation sites as soon as the expected mass delivery of RFID stickers is received.
