SAN Miguel began life without Terrence Romeo as he wanted: a collective effort by the Brewers.
Mo Tautuaa led five players in double figures when San Miguel defeated Terrafirma, 105-98, on Monday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Cultural and Sports Center of the Angeles University Foundation.
After two losses in a row, the Beermen finally scored their first victory inside the bubble, and second overall in four games, just days after Romeo left the bubble due to his dislocated right shoulder at the end of the season.
Tautuaa was once again key in a victory for San Miguel in this conference with June Mar Fajardo relegated to a virtual amateur due to a fracture of the right tibia.
After his 20-point performance in his game on March 8, Tautuaa had 25 points, six rebounds and three assists.

He wasn’t the only one who produced big numbers for San Miguel with Arwind Santos adding 20 points and 14 rebounds in the matchup.
Marcio Lassiter scored 17 points on 5 of 9 shots from 3-point range, while second defenders Von Pessumal and Paul Zamar added 17 and 11 points, respectively.
“We don’t want to be 0-3 in the bubble and that’s the hardest part, the first win in the bubble,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.
CJ Pérez had 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Dyip, who joined NLEX and NorthPort in the basement with 0-3 (win-loss) records.

The Brewers began to take control of the game in the third quarter when a 12-0 run widened the gap to 69-55, thanks to the team’s collective effort.
Pessumal took advantage of a triple to finish the game, 90-81, in the fourth quarter.
“This victory is really important because you are talking about morale. It is very difficult to recover. Fortunately, we were able to achieve an important victory, ”Austria said.
