Slaughter feels recharged, ready to go

Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) – October 11, 2020 – 12:00 am

MANILA, Philippines – A “recharged” Greg Slaughter said he is ready to meet with Barangay Geneva management to explore his possible return to the PBA.

Slaughter did not sign a new contract after his contract with the Gin Kings expired last January. He then spent the next eight months in the United States honing his skills with coach Gary Boyson.

He returned to the country last week and reopened his lines with coach Tim Cone.

“I am in contact with coach Tim. We’re having a meeting, and for the moment I’m just waiting for Geneva to go back to her favorite date. I’m ready to go, ”he said on Power and Play on Radyo Singko.

The return of the 7-footer, if ever, will happen next season as Slaughter is not part of Geneva’s final 15-man lineup for the Philippine Cup bubble.

Slaughter, who is now represented by the European-based basketball agency BeoBasket, said an international season is also an option, but he wants to speak to Geneva first.

“I am open to all possibilities. My level of play has risen, so there have also been interests from other teams abroad. But right now, with regard to Geneva and all the experiences we’ve had, I definitely have to talk to them before making a final decision, ”he said.

“I’m just waiting to meet with them,” he added.

Slaughter said the time out of the PBA and training with Boyson allowed him to recharge.
