Situation under control in Datu Piang, Maguindanao after the BIFF attack, says PNP

MANILA, Philippines – The situation in Datu Piang, Maguindanao is under control after a gang of terrorists raided the city on Thursday night, the Phliippine National Police (PNP) said.

“The troops are in place [from] both the PNP and the AFP po. For now, the [situation] is under po control. We want local residents to return to normal life even after brief military skirmishes, ”PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said in a statement after alleged members of Bangsamoro Islamic freedom fighters ( BIFF) attacked the Datu Piang Police Station.

On Thursday night, the military confirmed reports of suspected BIFF members in the city of Maguindanao in which a police vehicle caught fire.

By the time the military arrived, the suspected terrorists had already fled.

“Only one police vehicle caught fire. No other property damage. There are no din po victims. The PNP Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Army of 40IB [Infantry Battalion] answered [immediately] and reinforced the troops in the area. After 45 minutes, the municipality was free of any intrusion ”, added Usana.
