The police authorities of Calabarzón (Region 4A) have created a composite body to investigate the murder of Los Baños, the mayor of Laguna, César Pérez, who was shot dead in the municipal hall on Thursday night.
In a report to the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Gen. Debold Sinas, Calabarzon Police Director Brig. General Felipe Natividad said that a working group was organized to coordinate all the investigation efforts of the Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the Crime Laboratory, the Division of Regional Intelligence and the Provincial Office of the Laguna Police for the immediate solution of the case.
Sinas told Natividad to “exhaust all means to get to the bottom of the case and bring justice to the murdered local executive.”
Pérez was reportedly on his way to the reception area of the city hall when a lone gunman shot him. He died in a hospital in the province.
Natividad said investigators are reviewing all surveillance video recordings recorded by security cameras installed around the Los Baños municipal complex and surrounding establishments.
He said investigators are also establishing Mayor Pérez’s movements before and during the shooting to possibly gather more evidence to aid in the investigation.
