PHILIPPINES National Police (PNP) formally accused Major General Debold Sinas, Metro Manila Police Chief, on Friday for allegedly violating the guidelines under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
BGen Bernard Banac, a PNP spokesman, said that the Intelligence Group (IG) and the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) presented the case to the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office at approximately 4 p.m.
Criminal and administrative charges were filed against Sinas and other police officials who attended a birthday party for the Metro Manila police chief last week despite the closure.
Six brigadier generals, seven colonels, one lieutenant colonel, two seniors, two corporals were also involved.
Based on the document presented by IAS, in particular, the charges presented were for violation of Republic Law (RA) 11332, “Mandatory Report of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of the Public Health Affairs Law, and the Taguig city ordinance on wearing facial masks and observing physical distancing.
Administrative cases were filed against Sinas and the police officers for negligence in doing their duty.
IAS was assigned by PNP chief Archie Francisco Gamboa to investigate the incident.
