Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 31) – Some provinces in the Bicol region are now under the tropical cyclone No. 2 wind signal as Typhoon Rolly approaches the land mass, the PAGASA meteorological office said.
The agency updated the alert in Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and the eastern part of Camarines Sur, according to a 5 am bulletin, with winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour (kph) forecast in these areas.
The lowest storm warning is in Metro Manila, Camarines Norte, the rest of Camarines Sur, Masbate, including the Ticao and Burias islands, Quezón, including the Polillo, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro islands , Oriental Mindoro, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Pangasinan, Benguet, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and the southern part of Isabela.

Forecasters said Rolly will reach super typhoon status in the next 12 hours while tracking the Bicol region on Sunday. A super typhoon has winds of over 220 kilometers per hour.
“It is as fast as a bullet train and twice the speed of a vehicle crossing a highway,” said PAGASA climate specialist Benison Estareja, describing a super typhoon.
The center of the typhoon is seen passing near the Calaguas Islands on Sunday afternoon and hitting Polillo Island and the mainland of Quezon on Sunday night, PAGASA said.
At 4 am, the eye of Typhoon Rolly was 655 km. east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum winds of 215 kph and gusts of up to 265 kph.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods, landslides and structural damage.
It also forecast moderate to heavy rains in Caraga, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Peninsula, northern Mindanao, rest of Visayas and the rest of MIMAROPA.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains for the next 24 hours.
The meteorological office warned of a possible storm surge of up to three meters over the coastal areas of Quezon.
Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring tropical depression Atsani, the last time it was seen 1,605 km east of Visayas outside the monitoring area. It will be called Siony when it enters the country, and it may escalate into a tropical storm in the next 24 to 48 hours.
