According to the latest data from Pagasa, Siony was last seen 700 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.
Siony also had maximum sustained winds of 85 km / h near the center and gusts of up to 105 km / h.
The tropical storm was also observed to be moving slowly to the south-southwest.
State forecasters said Siony is forecast to move slowly or remain stationary over the next 12 hours, then it may move generally west or west-northwest toward the Strait of Luzon and the far north of Luzon, carrying the center of the storm. tropical on or very close to Batanes and Babuyan. “As such, a landfall scenario is still likely in these locations,” Pagasa said.
Siony is also forecast to escalate to a severe tropical storm in the next 24 hours, Pagasa added.
Pagasa also said that the northeast winds intensified by Siony and Tropical Storm Rolly, which has left the Philippines Area of Responsibility, will bring a strong breeze to hurricane force winds with stronger gusts over Batanes, Babuyan Islands and the northern coastal areas of Cagayan and Ilocos. Tropical Storm Siony is expected to leave the Philippines Area of Responsibility on Friday afternoon or Friday evening.
