Siargao reopens its doors to local tourists on November 23.

The Mayor of General Luna, Cecilia L. Ruson, confirmed the news through an executive order, following the opening of the provincial border and the announcement of the reopening of the Siargao and Surigao airports on December 1.

The local government of General Luna prescribed travel guidelines and protocols and pledged to take precautionary measures, such as requiring a confirmed 5-day reservation.

“We have to control the volume of tourists that enter and that we have to evaluate and adjust to the situation momentarily, rest assured, we will be reconsidering the same in due course,” the statement read.

General Luna will also continue to prohibit non-essential meetings and will follow basic health protocols through the use of a mask and face shield, physical distancing, hand hygiene and the like.

“We urge the public to remain cautious and cautious at all times,” he said.

“In this new normal situation, we can do nothing more than prepare for and cooperate with the government’s efforts and initiatives to protect and mitigate the possible spread of COVID-19,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism (DOT) welcomed the reopening of the teardrop island, also known as the Surfing Capital of the Philippines.
