Manila, Philippines – The government panel that handles the country’s COVID-19 response has enabled workshops, trainings, seminars, conventions, conferences, consumer trade fairs, board meetings, symposia and the like to be held in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ).
But the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) said these events should only fill 30 percent of the venue’s capacity.
In its latest resolution, the IATF said that meetings, conventions, incentives and exhibition events could be held in restaurants, ballrooms and function rooms within the hotel premises and the atriums of shopping centers.
It directed the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Commerce and Industry (DTI) to jointly issue guidelines for these events.
But this without prejudice to the strictest protocols that local government units may impose in the areas where the site is located.
The latest IATF decision would allow more meetings to take place in public places.
According to the latest IATF guidelines, all establishments, whether public or private, must use the StaySafe.ph app to obtain the government-required security seal.
In its latest resolution, the IATF adopted the recommendations of the Cabinet Secretary, which promoted the implementation of the Security Seal Certification Program.
The IATF requires that all establishments, including government offices, private companies, hotels and commercial establishments, adopt the Security Seal.
One of the requirements to get the seal is to use the StaySafe.ph application and generate your QR code that would be displayed on all tickets.
The other requirements to obtain the Security Seal will be contained in a joint memorandum circular that will be issued by the DTI, the Department of Health, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the DOT and the Department of Transport.
Previously, the IATF made the use of the StaySafe.ph app mandatory for national government agencies and local governments.
