MANILA, Philippines – The second alarm occurred over the Marikina River when its level rose 16 meters due to rains caused by Typhoon Ulysses, the Marikina Public Information Office (PIO) said Thursday morning.
With the second alert active, residents living in low-lying areas near the river were advised to conduct a preventive evacuation.
The water level reached the 16 meter mark at 1:01 a.m.
The first alarm was raised before 11:00 pm after the water level reached 15 meters on Wednesday night.
Forced evacuation takes place once the water level exceeds 18 meters.
