Saso finishes joint 13th in her first U.S. Women’s Open.

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino Yuka Saso showed great determination to save a joint 13th final in the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open delayed by rain on Tuesday (Manila time) at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas.

Playing in his first major, Saso shot a 72 in the fourth round for a five over par in the tournament.

Saso, 19, redeemed himself after a third round below par in which he finished tied for 25th place entering the final round after a 77 out of six over par.

The double Asian Games gold medalist, who shared 13th place with six others, pocketed $ 96,800 (P4.6 million).

Another Filipino in Bianca Pagdanganan was not so lucky as he missed the cut after the second round.

South Korea’s Kim A-Lim produced an impressive finish to snatch his first major win with a one-shot victory.

The 25-year-old, who had never won a tournament outside of South Korea before, fired three consecutive birdies on holes 16, 17 and 18 to finish 67 four-under.
