Last night, the Clippers did one of the hardest things in professional sports, successfully ruining a decisive series lead against the Nuggets to squander their chance to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
Credit where credit is due, the Nuggets have proven time and again that they are not a team to be taken lightly. They’re at their best when they’re cornered and with young stars like Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic leading the way, they’re as dangerous as any team in the playoffs.
As impressive as their comeback was, this isn’t about the Nuggets, it’s not about Murray or Jokic, it’s 100 percent about the sheer unbridled joy that San Antonio Spurs fans found when watching Kawhi Leonard and Paul “Playoff. P ”George collapsing under the bright lights.

Let me tell you, if you’re not a Twitter member of the Spurs, you are really missing out. The memes got hot and fast by the time the game ended and I was laughing all night. Thanks to all the NBA fans, you are creative and fun people.
And it wasn’t just the fans who got on the grid, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum took their rivalry with the Clippers into the offseason and had some of the best of the night taunting the Clippers and inviting them out. come hang out in Cabo.
Most of us were probably taught from a young age not to rejoice in the suffering of others, but I mean, come on. This is objectively fun. Even going back to the Lob City days, the Clippers are a team that has always acted as if they were one of the best in the league. And they haven’t won anything. Regular season wins and postseason appearances are great, but until you hang up banners, you’ll still be one notch below teams like the Lakers, Celtics and Spurs that have shown they can go the distance.
Frankly, we are much happier with how the San Antonio Spurs season ended than the Clippers. Yes, the Spurs did not make the playoffs. But at least they’re not the laughing stock of the NBA right now and they didn’t trade all the picks and first-round trades until 2027. We’ll take a lottery pick on that each time.
