SEOUL – Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K TV models have earned the world’s first Wi-Fi 6E certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA), a group of Wi-Fi platform providers. TV owners can enjoy four times faster connectivity, as well as stable and reliable data transfer even when multiple devices are connected to a router.

The Wi-Fi 6E designation was announced in 2020 for any Wi-Fi 6 product that supports 6 GHz wireless spectrum. Wi-Fi 6E enables faster speeds and lower latencies than Wi-Fi 6. The 5 jump GHz to 6 GHz quadruples the amount of radio waves available to routers and smart devices. The higher spectrum means lower latency for online games, video calls, or virtual computing sessions.

Neo QLED, introduced in January, increases the luminance scale to make dark areas darker and bright areas brighter. Samsung used a new light source called the Quantum Mini LED. Instead of using a lens to scatter the light and a package to fix the LED in place, the thin microlayers were filled with many more LEDs. Samsung has strengthened Neo QLED’s gaming capabilities, allowing gamers to enjoy a wider field of view and quickly monitor and adjust critical aspects of the game.

Samsung said that Neo QLED 8K TVs can support larger bandwidth uploads, process multi-gigabit data faster, enable low latency, and provide reliable and secure connectivity. “Samsung is proud to have achieved the world’s first Wi-Fi 6E certification for our televisions,” said Choi Young-hun, executive vice president of Samsung’s visual display business, in a statement on March 30.

As televisions and mobile devices continue to evolve into hubs for consumer connectivity through a variety of lifestyle routines, the demand for handling high-capacity data has increased. Samsung said that Neo QLED 8K TVs with Wi-Fi 6E support are for consumers looking for premium viewing experiences at home.
