MANILA, Philippines – Its president and CEO, Dante Gierran, has asked senior executives at Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) to submit their courtesy resignations in a bid to reorganize the corruption-stricken state insurance agency, Malacañang said. on Friday.

Roque said that the Palace supports Gierran’s initiative.
“I also hope that you will be guided by the findings of the Senate as well as the findings of the PhilHealth Task Force,” he added.
The PhilHealth Task Force, which is led by the Department of Justice (DOJ), recommended filing corruption charges against PhilHealth President Ricardo Morales, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Arnel De Jesus, Senior Vice Presidents Jovita Aragona , Renato Limsiaco, Jr. and Israel Francis Pargas; Officer in Charge Calixto Gabuya, Jr., and Division Chief Bobby Crisostomo.
President Duterte created the task force to investigate PhilHealth officials on allegations of corruption uncovered during recent Congressional investigations.
Among the complaints of corruption raised are the acquisition of allegedly overvalued computer equipment; an allegedly questionable release of funds under the corporation’s Interim Refund Mechanism (IRM); and the alleged manipulation of the financial status of the corporation.
The Senate Committee of the Whole, which conducted its own investigation into the PhilHealth mess, also recommended filing cases against Morales and several high-ranking officials, including Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, for the alleged misuse of funds under the emergency cash advance measure of the state insurance company. .
Duque, as Secretary of Health, serves as chairman of the PhilHealth board.
