Russell Westbrook has been talked about in many trade rumors and he reportedly would like to be traded for the Houston Rockets. Another name that has been mentioned in trade rumors has been Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon. It appears that the two names have been mentioned in the same business conversations.
According to a report by Chris Haynes of Yahoo! sports, the Rockets and Magic discussed a trade that would have traded Westbrook and Gordon. However, the report states that the talks did not progress much.
While the talks have not progressed at this time, that does not mean they will not resume. There is still a chance that these two teams will revisit these conversations.
First, the Rockets must figure out what to do with James Harden. If they think they can fix things with Harden, it would make a lot more sense to acquire Gordon. He would make an excellent running mate on Harden’s front line.
As for the Magic, they need to find a true franchise player. They are also looking for a true star base. Westbrook could help you check both boxes.
Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook and the trade rumors will continue. Both players would still be better served elsewhere. The Rockets and Magic will likely continue to get calls and talk about trades for those players.
It will be interesting to see what the rest of the offseason holds for the Rockets and Magic. You could both stand up to do some movements. Only time will tell if these trade talks will resume, but it’s certainly an intriguing idea.
