The vice president mentioned, in particular, the temporary shelter project for health workers located at the Philippine Pulmonary Center and the Quirino Medical Center, and the triage and quarantine areas at the Chinese General Hospital and the Manila Medical Hospital. , all carried out with the help of the 51st Engineer Brigade of the Philippine Army.

“I also took the opportunity to thank AFP for being a trusted partner in our various initiatives, especially those in line with their COVID-19 response,” Robredo said in a Facebook post.

“Various AFP units have also been assisting the OVP as it provides assistance, such as PPE sets, locally produced protective suits and medical supplies, to different parts of the Philippines, especially distant communities,” he added.

The OVP and its partner agencies, both government and private, have launched several initiatives to assist in the response to COVID-19. When the pandemic forced the country to shut down the country last March, Robredo’s office launched free transportation services for front-line passengers, as public transportation was suspended.

His office also opened dormitories near hospitals so that healthcare workers wouldn’t worry about going to and from their workplaces, all while launching a donation campaign to finance the production of personal protective equipment (PPE). [ac]
