MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and businessman Ramon Ang are some of the big names Filipinos hope to run as President Rodrigo Duterte’s successor in the 2022 national elections, according to a study published by a research firm. .

According to the study released by political campaign consultancy BluePrint.PH released Wednesday, among the other names being considered for the presidency are Senators Manny Pacquiao, Grace Poe, Risa Hontiveros, Pia Cayetano and Tito Sotto; Davao City Mayor and Presidential Daughter Sarah Duterte-Carpio; human rights lawyer José Manuel “Chel” Diokno; Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla; former Senators Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Manny Villar, the Mayor of Manila, Isko Moreno; Leyte 4th District Representative Lucy Torres-Gómez and former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.

Special report: 16 names are on their way to the presidency in 2022

BluePrint.PH CEO Eero Brillantes said the names were based on sentiment analysis on Facebook.

Such sentiment analysis, Brillantes added, was based on social media data extracted from June 1 to November 30 of this year, scanning a total of 344,761,479 data points or Facebook engagement such as likes, shares, reactions and comments.

“If we look at our big data metrics, about 16 names are frequently mentioned on social media, particularly Facebook, as potential presidential candidates,” said Brillantes.

“They all have paths to the presidency. Social media activities alone through Facebook can generate between 22 and 35 percent of votes in 2022, ”he added.

According to Brillantes, there are four components to a serious campaign, namely: ground game, aerial warfare through the mainstream media, network engineering (social media), and big data for decision support.

All 16 names have one component, but not all have all four components, the CEO added.

“Social media will be an important battlefield with 22 to 35 percent of potential votes,” he said, adding that the field game and traditional media through advertising and public relations will account for 65 to 78 percent of the generational potential of votes.

The “big data for decision support” component will be crucial in determining the right messaging and priority spending in many segments of the electorate, he said.

And who has more coverage on Facebook?

The BluePrint.PH study showed that the personalities with the highest media coverage in traditional media and published on Facebook are Robredo, followed by Pacquiao and Moreno.

“Moreno also ranked first in the ability to engage influencers on social media to promote ideas that could generate potential interest and votes, followed by Robredo and Senators Bong Go and Manny Pacquiao, Sara Duterte, Bongbong Marcos, Jonvic Remula , Risa Hontiveros, Tito Sotto, Grace Poe, Pia Cayetano, Chel Diokno, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Alan Peter Cayetano, Ramon Ang and Manny Villar ”, said the research firm.

“Meanwhile, Representative Lucy Torres-Gómez, Ramon Ang, Jonvic Remulla, Risa Hontiveros occupy the first place in the list of candidates with the greatest potential for growth on social networks. These personalities have a small number of followers and influencers, but they indicate good potential, ”added BluePrint.PH.
