Quezon City Police Chief Relieved by Allegations of Violation of the COVID-19 Protocol

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 23) – The police chief of the municipality of Dolores in the province of Quezón has been relieved of his position for allegedly not following the COVID-19 protocols established by the country’s coronavirus working group.

The Quezon Provincial Police Directorate said in a statement that on Wednesday afternoon Police Captain Joseph Ian Java will be dismissed as head of the Dolores Municipal Police Station, pending the completion of an investigation into his alleged violation of “ the prohibition of social gatherings, parties and other similar activities, more particularly this Christmas season and in the Covid-19 security protocols of the IATF (inter-institutional working group) ”.

CNN Philippines has asked Quezon Police for more details on the alleged Java violation, but has yet to provide us with a response.

Police Lt. Almario dela Rosa was appointed as the officer in charge of the Dolores police, authorities said Wednesday.

Quezon City Police Provincial Director Audie Madrideo urged Quezon Police officers to lead by example and demonstrate compliance with IATF guidelines.
