MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City Police District launched its investigation into the murder of a former police officer on Saturday, Brig. General Danilo Macerin, head of QCPD, said in a statement issued Sunday.
The 60-year-old victim, Rodolfo Aspril, and his partner were attacked as they were riding a motorcycle home on the south side of Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Old Balara at 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
There were three masked assailants on motorcycles, who had been following them, according to Macerin.
The former policeman’s partner contacted Batasan police, who dispatched officers to the crime scene where they found eight spent cartridges and a misshapen bullet fired from a .45 caliber firearm.
Macerin said the case had been referred to Major Elmer Monsalve’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU).
Macerin is urging anyone with information that could shed light on the murder to contact the QCPD.
